Introduction

New York City is the most populous city in the United States and is also extremely culturally diverse.  This large melting pot leads to one of the most culturally rich cities on the planet.  But it is not just culture that exudes from this city that is know as the 'capital of the world'. The tentacles of fashion, commerce, finance and entertainment stretch far and wide from this international hub.

During your stay in New York you will have the opportunity to experience a performance by a local gospel choir; stroll through the green haven within the concrete jungle known as Central Park; visit the huge Lincoln Centre for Performing Arts, the largest in the United States; walk through the narrow, vibrant streets of Chinatown; see where fortunes are both won and lost in seconds at the New York Stock Exchange on Wall Street; admire the Statue of Liberty, a symbol of Liberty and Freedom for Americans; discover the Empire State building a National Historic Landmark, made famous in the King Kong movie; finally, your tour to the Big Apple would not be complete without taking in a Broadway show.

Concerts and Venues

You will perform several times throughout your stay in New York.  The first will be an individual concert at a local venue such as a school, nursing home, hospital, church, museum or other public space.  The second concert will see a congregation of all participating choirs for the choral exchange at the New York City Actors' Chapel.  This chapel which forms part of Saint Malachy's Church has been a haven of worship for the entertainment community since 1920.  The third concert will be a friendship concert at a community church in the local borough of Brooklyn.  The friendship concert will be hosted by a local choir who you will have the chance not only to perform with, but to socialize with over refreshments after the concert.  Finally you will have the chance to perform as part of a morning worship service in one of New York City's beautiful churches.
