Introduction:

Luxembourg, nestled in the heart of Western Europe is unique in that it is the only grande duchy in existence in the world today. While Luxembourg has been influenced by its Germanic, French and Dutch neighbours, the people and culture of this small country are yet distinctively, Luxembourgish. Having one of the highest GDP's per capita in the world has led to such economic vitality which is manifest in the numerous examples of modern architecture, however they have managed to preserve its beautiful, ancient, fortified town walls and old quarters which are now listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Luxembourg city has also been awarded the prestigious European Capital of Culture, and in fact has been the first city to have received this award twice. Culture plays an important part in the lives of the locals and is no better represented than by the 3 month long 'Summer In The City' festival which you may have the opportunity to be a part of.

Concert Venues:

The International Brass Music Festival of Luxembourg  is also unique for Music and Friends in that it is held over two sessions.  The first is held in September and marks the culmination of Luxembourg's Summer In The City" festival and it is also possible to participate in the Grevenmacher Wine Festival.  The second session is held during December to coincide with the Christmas Parade in the heart of Luxembourg City.  At all sessions and festivals both parades and concerts will be available for groups.

Farewell Concert and Dinner:

The highlight of the September festival is participation in the Grande Folklore Parade to celebrate the local grape harvest.  The highlight of the December festival is a parade from the Place de la Gare to the Place Guillaume in the city centre followed by a concert in the 5000 seat Christmas marque.  Farewell dinners will be held in one of the main hotels in Luxembourg City.
